Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions will be launching its latest future-proofed innovation at The OT Show – the new larger hi-lo Aries 2000 bath.

Building on the proven effectiveness of the existing Aries 1700 and 1800 baths, the pioneering Aries 2000 is a generously-spaced, 2m long solution that provides comfort and support for a wider range of disabled bathers. It offers an extra-long, deeper and wider experience ideal for larger children, teenagers and adults so appropriate bathing can be provided for longer.

A bath for life, the electrically-powered Aries 1800 is fully height adjustable and suitable for a variety of needs and is particularly effective for those who require hoist transfers. Its smooth and controlled hi-lo functionality ensures carers can operate at safe working heights without the risk of musculoskeletal injury when providing personal care.

Abacus is part of the Gainsborough Healthcare Group which is Europe’s largest manufacturer of assisted baths. This capability means the new Aries has the latest ergonomic design and technology – maximising bathing positivity for both bather and carer. Aesthetics are contemporary with a clear focus on safety such as rounded corners and a low entry threshold, notes Abacus.

In addition, obstruction sensors provide added reassurance when lowering the bath which has been strengthened to offer a 250kg safe working load. Therefore, bariatric bathers can now benefit from an appropriate bathing solution for enhanced hygiene and well-being.

Unique to baths from the Gainsborough Healthcare Group, the new Aries 2000 incorporates pioneering BioCote antimicrobial technology which provides 99.9 percent, 24/7 protection against harmful superbugs. Built in during the manufacturing process, bath surfaces with this invisible silver-ion system significantly reduce the risk of infection from Influenza H1N1, E.coli, Salmonella and antibiotic resistance microbes. BioCote delivers critical hygiene benefits to vulnerable bathers and carers in a variety of care scenarios.

Operation of the Aries 2000 is intuitive with a simple roaming hand console and multiple bath options are available including thermostatically-controlled water, auto fill, chromotherapy, Bluetooth sound and Air spa. For bespoke comfort, the Aries is compatible with a variety of respected accessories including the new Abacus Laze net postural support.

Peter Eckhardt, Gainsborough Healthcare Group CEO, commented: “I would encourage all Occupational Therapists attending the OT Show to experience our new Aries 2000 bath – it represents a step-change in care.

“For the first time you can offer future-proofed bathing to a wider range of clients that require hoisting transfers. No other bathing solution delivers such life-enhancing abilities as the new Aries 2000 from Abacus.”

Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions will be exhibiting on Stand S10 at The OT Show, which takes place on the 27th-28th of November at Birmingham’s NEC.
