Occupational Therapist Adam Ferry will be hosting an engaging CPD-accredited seminar at the upcoming OTAC Southampton, which will focus on how bathing can support sleep and positive routines.

OTAC events support enhanced practice for OTs through a diverse showcase, presenting the latest assistive products and services from leading suppliers alongside CPD-accredited seminars and training workshops.

The free regional adaptations and equipment-based events are for occupational therapists in the UK, bringing OTs and suppliers under one roof.

According to OTAC organisers Promoting Independence, the OTAC Southampton event on 14 October 2020 will be adhering to all COVID-19 restrictions, so delegates can be reassured that the event will be safe.

At OTAC Southampton, The OT Service’s Adam Ferry will be leading the CPD seminar – ‘Bathing and Sleep – joining the dots’ in coordination with Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions.

The CPD seminar will take place in the Geberit Theatre from 11:30am-12:00pm, exploring the occupation of bathing with a particular focus on how bathing can support sleep and positive routines. Additionally, the seminar will discuss the impact on children and their parents as well as adults and their carers.

Abacus says that by attending the seminar, OTs will: reflect on bathing as a meaningful occupation; understand the link between bathing and sleep; consider the impact of a positive bedtime routine on clients and their carers; and develop a greater understanding of equipment available to support bathing as a meaningful occupation.

In addition to supporting an educational seminar, Abacus will be exhibiting its range of power-assisted accessible baths and postural bathing supports to attending healthcare professionals. On stand 20, the award-winning Gemini 2000 hi-lo platform bath will be available for hands-on trialling with advice from a senior Abacus Assessor and Adam Ferry.

The Occupational Therapy Adaptations Conference (OTAC) Southampton will take place on 14 October 2020 from 9am-6pm at the Hilton Hotel at the Ageas Bowl, Botley Road, West End, Southampton, UK. SO30 3XH.
