Seating Matters, an established manufacturer of a range of clinical, therapeutic seating products, has published the fifth edition of The Clinician’s Seating Handbook and is offering the resource to healthcare professionals for free.

Written and published by Martina Tierney, an Occupational Therapist and Clinical Director of Seating Matters, ten years ago, the book has become essential reading for clinicians and therapists, being used in universities and clinical practices worldwide.

The company notes that this latest edition contains various useful updated advice and clinical research for healthcare professionals, including moving and handling pointers, pressure injury staging guidelines, and paediatric & bariatric assessment tips.

Discussing the updated edition, Martina said: “It’s my goal to change the world through healthcare seating. The new edition of The Clinician’s Seating Handbook allows my fellow clinicians to refine their skills and use the most up to date clinical practices to do just that.”

Usually retailing for £24, the company is offering the textbook for free to therapists and clinicians, noting that its goal is to share best practice in the industry.

“It’s not important to us if we sell books or not, what’s important is that best practice and new evidence is in the hands of those who can make a real difference to patients’ lives day to day,” said Martin Tierney, Director of Seating Matters.
