Etac R82, the UK’s leading specialist in Scandinavian-inspired assistive equipment for disabled children and adults, is delighted to announce its latest educational programme – SAT – Seating Assessment Training.

SAT is a new, free training course aimed at Paediatric OT’s and Physiotherapists who want to develop their knowledge of seating principles and problem solving solutions. It offers the opportunity for collaboration between therapists and equipment providers so that individual therapy needs can be met. With a flexible format, each training session will utilise relevant case studies so that training can be shaped according to the requirements of attendees. The programme will be hosted by leading Occupational Therapists namely Joanne McConnell, OT and Category Manager for Mobility and Pressure Care at Etac R82, and Helena Poulton, Highly Specialist OT.

SAT training will focus on:

Identifying key structures of the pelvis
Hands-on palpitation of the pelvis
Accurate measuring techniques
Seating equipment selection following a detailed assessment
Appropriate adjustment of seating equipment to meet childrens’ needs

The training will involve a workshop-based approach with hands-on experience and the opportunity to ask questions regarding individual scenarios. Places on each session will be limited so that all attendees will be able to fully discuss current challenges and obtain expert recommendation on a variety of topics.
