Later this month, occupational therapists (OTs) and physiotherapists (PTs) will have the opportunity to attend a free online training session about specifying seating solutions that meet clients’ care needs and help them reach their goals.

Hosted by Yorkshire Care Equipment, the webinar – ‘Using Specialist Seating to Reach Client Goals: How, When & Why to Specify’ – will take place on 20th May at 2pm. Interested delegates can register for the free webinar here.

If unable to attend the live session, all registered attendees will receive a recorded version of the webinar.

By attending, OTs and PTs will understand the risk factors associated with inadequate seating for older people and people with disabilities. They will also learn more about the hierarchy of provision for specialist seating and know when intervention is needed.

In addition, the healthcare equipment provider will give best practice and advice for carrying out seat sizing assessments. This includes a live demonstration by Ben Stirling, a trained specialist seating assessor, on how to take accurate seating measurements and size a chair to get the perfect fit for a client.

By the end of the webinar, attendees will also be able to answer the question ‘Why is a holistic approach to specifying seating important?’ Yorkshire Care Equipment will also give healthcare professionals tips for tailoring specifications to individual clients. PTs and OTs will also learn about the overall impact of seating on health and quality of life.

Finally, delegates will increase their knowledge on the benefits of using adjustable chairs to achieve clients’ short- and long-term goals, before the webinar is finished by a live Q&A session.

Yorkshire Care Equipment recently ran an educational webinar on falls prevention and recovery. The session gave training and support to OTs and PTs who work with clients that have been affected by, or are vulnerable to, falls.
