Warrington-based St Rocco’s Hospice, in the North West, has received a wheelchair scale and some pear push leads to help improve care for patients with mobility needs.

A pub in the Warrington area called the Cherry Tree nominated the St Rocco’s Hospice for support from the Sizzling and Carling Community Action campaign. The Sizzling and Carling Community Action campaign aims to support and raise money for local organisations.

From the Cherry Tree’s nomination, St Rocco’s has been able to provide its Vitality Centre facility, which provides a variety of therapy programmes to inpatients, with new chair scales and pear push leads.

The chair scale, a wheelchair with an integrated weighing system, helps people who are unable to stand get weighed quickly, easily and with minimum discomfort. The pear push leads are an essential calling product that enables individuals with reduced mobility to contact their nurse.

Staff from the pub visited the hospice, where they said the healthcare professionals and staff were very appreciative to have received the new care equipment.

St Rocco’s fundraising manager Rachel Ingham told Warrington Worldwide: “The new equipment will prove vital in supporting our patients for many years to come. We are very grateful for this funding award from the Sizzling and Carling Community Action campaign”.
