New bariatric chair launches at OT Show

Nexus DMS will be launching their new bariatric chair bed at November’s OT Show. The Rota-Pro-Bario will have a safe working load of 41 stone (260kg), and will be 20cm wider than the company’s standard version.

Director Simon Robinson told us: “We are thrilled to be launching the market’s first bariatric-capable, rotational chair bed. Our product offering already features probably the most diverse range of profiling bed solutions available, and the addition of the Rota-Pro-Bario is a great addition to this versatile portfolio”.

According to Nexus, Rota-Pro helps people get into and out of bed unaided, preserving their dignity at the same time as improving their mobility. The company therefore says that the launch of a bariatric model means an even greater number of people can benefit from the freedom of getting up and going to bed by themselves, whenever they choose and without dependence on others.

Like the standard Rota-Pro, Rota-Pro-Bario will come compete with a specially designed pressure-relieving mattress, as well as bespoke bedding which holds the pillow in place. Both beds can be configured to rotate out to the left or the right hand side, and all positions are re-programmable to user preference for maximum comfort and support.

Nexus also suggests that Rota-Pro-Bario’s extra width could be of significant benefit for non-bariatric individuals in cases where a wider-than-standard lying surface is desired. It has also been suggested that the original Rota-Pro can pay for itself in as little as 4 weeks, as the cost of purchase is offset against significant savings made through the reduction in expensive daily care support.
