AKW Onyx bathroom imageA specialist in accessibility solutions, AKW has launched its new Onyx range of bathroom accessories, designed to be stylish, safe and accessible.

The company says that it is bringing style to inclusive bathroom solutions, with contemporary designs, tactile finishes, and chrome, black and white colour options.

Focusing on being discreet and blending in with the rest of the bathroom, the Onyx range incorporates rails and shower seats which can fold away when not in use and “elegant” grab rails which can support up to 150kg, come in a variety of options and blend in with the wall.

As highlighted in the Centre for Ageing Better’s recent study, research suggests that people want style over function in mobility aids and they feel that clinical-looking products are off-putting and stigmatising.

AKW has also developed a wide range of accessories, including acrylic and chrome shelves, soap dishes and toothbrush cup holders, as well as chrome plated zinc alloy robe hooks and chrome, black and white option toilet roll holders, toilet brushes and towel rails.

Stuart Reynolds, Head of Product and Marketing at AKW, commented: “The Onyx range reimagines what is possible in terms of bathroom safety.

“We wanted to give end users the opportunity to blend their accessible bathroom solutions with their interior design, so that they didn’t have to choose between style and practicality.

“The end result is a strong, yet contemporary range that would look good in any bathroom installation.”

AKW is a manufacturer of showering, daily living and kitchen solutions for people with restricted mobility; it works with occupational therapists and healthcare professionals to design its products.

The company works with local authorities, housing associations and national and regional contractors.
