A new specialist compact chair has launched for healthcare and nursing care applications providing unique pressure relieving features.

Wilcare’s new Oxford compact chair features a two-motor tilt in space action, enabling users with restricted movement to change position from upright to a reclining position, reducing the risk of skin tissue pressure issues.

Electrically powered, the hoist-compatible chair features independent operation of the backrest and footboard, which folds away under the chair, to provide a wider range of positions for users.

Additionally, the chair has push handles and 4-inch diameter castors with brakes to rear with an optional lap strap which allows the model to be used as a porter’s chair.

Featuring a viscoelastic pressure-relieving memory foam seat, Wilcare says the Oxford has a contemporary style and is available in a range of healthcare fabrics offering waterproof, antimicrobial and anti-MRSA properties, including four-way stretch options for pressure areas.

The chair has a removable seat for easier cleaning to enable users to swap in alternative pressure care solutions for higher risk clients.

The model is available in either compact (19-inch seat width) or medium (21-inch seat width), both with a user weight limit of up to 19 stone. Wilcare says that the compact version has been designed so that the chair can be manoeuvred through narrower doorways.

Established in 2001, Wilcare specialises in rise and recline and static furniture for the healthcare and independent living sectors.
