Medway Council has selected leading community equipment service (CES) provider Medequip to manage CES provision across the area covered by the council, including Rochester, Gillingham, Chatham and the Isle of Sheppey.

The community equipment specialist also recently won a competitive tender to manage Integrated Community Equipment Loan Services provision in Sheffield, on behalf of Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group and Sheffield City Council.

This is the third CES contract win announced by Medequip in 2020, which means that the CES provider now manages more than 40 contracts, supplying a range of equipment from simple aids for daily living through to more complex pieces of equipment which enables people to receive appropriate care and remain independent in their home environment.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Medequip has agreed to work closely with other leading outsource CES providers to aid in the national effort and help maintain vital services.

This means that NRS Healthcare, Millbrook Healthcare, Medequip, Ross Care and the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) are working together to maximise continuity for local authorities and the NHS throughout the current coronavirus outbreak.

The group now holds weekly conference calls to share best practice, optimise planning, manage PPE availability and discuss key areas of consideration to ensure that people still receive their vital community equipment products.
