Medequip to offer information and guidance to disabled people at upcoming digital event
One of the leading community equipment services (CES) providers, Medequip has announced its participation in Disability Awareness Day (DAD) Virtual, as the interactive show gears up to take place this month.
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many physical exhibitions and events this year, including Naidex, several OTAC events, The OT Show and the PMG Conference. However, show organisers have decided to host virtual events in their place, designed to keep people informed and engaged, which is particularly important in the disability arena where many events have been postponed or cancelled.
Organised and managed by Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP), Disability Awareness Day, usually staged live in Warrington, already enjoyed an established profile as a pan-disability event, promoting a ‘can do’ culture focused around what disabled people can achieve in life and in work.
Instead of a physical event this year, WDP has now created an innovative and interactive online platform that delivers all the fun and entertainment of its live event along with the information, advice and guidance that the show and charity prides itself on.
Hosted online at dadvirtual.org.uk and taking place on 25 October, the show will include visitor favourites including the Arts Marquee, showcasing the best disabled UK artists; the Sports Zone, revealing a plethora of sports that visitors can learn about; as well as the Main Arena, where visitors can see a video of what they would have seen at the live event.
Taking place in this year’s innovative virtual event is Medequip, which recently secured a CES contract for the Medway area.
Medequip says this will be its first virtual event, with the CES provider focusing on offering information, advice and guidance in an engaging and accessible manner. Just like a physical event, visitors can attend Medequip’s virtual stand, download video links and get involved in live Q&A sessions.
On the day, Medequip staff will be manning the virtual stand, responding to questions and signposting self-help guides.
Visitors are invited to learn about Medequip Connect, the company’s telecare service offering. Medequip Connect says it is currently implementing an innovative approach to the delivery of technology enabled care services based around the use of advanced information and communications technologies.
Delegates will also be able to download a Manage At Home catalogue and access this comprehensive online platform specialising in home care products, such as mobility aids and disability equipment, designed to promote independence at home and ease the challenges of daily living.
In addition, the provider will also be showcasing its public awareness education programme delivered by Medequip Falls Prevention, which covers falls risk information, self-management and healthy living advice. Visitors can access Medequip’s comprehensive booklet entitled ‘Taking Positive Steps’ advising older people on falls risks and how to prevent them.
