sit2stander

The ability to stand from a seated position is an important movement performed many times throughout the day. It is one of the most fundamental motions required for a greater quality of life and functional independence. The new Sit2Stand is designed to address proper biomechanics in order to provide the lower body strength required to achieve the sit-to-stand motion. In addition, it contributes to upper extremity strength gain to help diminish pain often created by upper body compensation for lower extremity weakness.

Designed with easy to use and conveniently located adjustment levers and biomechanically positioned arm supports, the Biodex Sit2Stand can be used in both physical rehabilitation and wellness settings. It provides a safe, progressive environment for a patient to move through the seated to standing motions, either independently or with a therapist’s guidance.

The therapist has open access to the patient to assist with movement. By repeating the motions, a patient builds both lower and upper-body muscular strength and endurance, improves flexibility and ultimately gains independence. Wellness members can utilize the device with minimal supervision, strengthening both upper and lower extremities, important for maintaining independence.

A distinguishing feature of the Sit2Stand is the assistance profile which provides accommodating assistance to natural movement. The assistance corresponds with the sit-to-stand force output, providing more assistance where one is weaker, and less assistance where one is stronger,

“We are excited to introduce our newest device, the Sit2Stand Trainer,” states Don Gronachan, Vice President Physical Medicine Sales. “Our goal in manufacturing this device is to offer facilities a training tool to aid older adults in gaining or maintaining independence. We created the Sit2Stand to benefit weakened, older or sedentary patients and residents. Its versatile, secure design allows it to be used in many types of facilities including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, wellness centers, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation centers.”
