Adam Ferry, Occupational Therapist, will be hosting the free Abacus CPD webinar

Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions, in conjunction with The OT Service, will be hosting a free Abacus Academy CPD webinar for occupational therapists (OTs) entitled: ‘Discharge to assess – an occupational perspective.’

Presented by OT Adam Ferry, the webinar considers whether the application of the discharge to assess (D2A) model – that has been widely applied in England since the start of the coronavirus pandemic – has been consistent, productive and safe.

Attendees will reflect on the essence of D2A and how this either supports or hinders the therapeutic process. Finally, the webinar explores the impact on community-based services, using bathing as an example to demonstrate a spectrum of potential outcomes following the use of D2A in its true form.

By attending, occupational therapists will learn about the aim of D2A and its impact on NHS/local authority occupational therapy services. Attendees will also review the legislation to reflect on D2A application nationally and reflect on potential benefits and challenges to occupational therapy practice. Finally, OTs will consider impact on clinical reasoning processes within bathing.

The webinar will take place on 27th January 2021. A live session will take place from 1-2pm with an OT Q&A or a pre-recorded version will run from 6-7pm. Interested OTs can book a free space on the webinar here

A Zoom video link will be sent prior to the event and CPD certificates will be available to all attendees.

Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions recently launched the Abacus Academy: a new online resource that enhances everyday practice for OTs, physiotherapists and moving & handling practitioners.

It provides a range of up-to-date educational material that supports CPD learning through bitesize videos, practical and theoretical material, downloads and case studies. CPD certificates are available to professionals who learn via the academy and will also be available to attendees after the latest live Abacus webinar.
