Popular Get Going Live! event relaunches to help young disabled drivers learn to drive

Driving Mobility, a London-based Driving Assessment Centre managed by the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation (QEF) for Disabled People, will be hosting a Get Going Live! event so that young, disabled people can experience assistive driving.

Get Going Live! was originally a popular feature of the national Mobility Roadshow which was held each year from 1983 up until 2017. Attendees to the relaunched exhibition will be able to safely test drive a range of accessible and adapted vehicles around a test track with qualified specialist instructors.

In addition, the event will provide the opportunity for visitors and their families to try adapted driving and explore options for accessible motoring.

QEF Mobility Services offers professional information, advice and driving assessments for people seeking assistance with mobility and is overseen by the charity Driving Mobility, which conducts assessments on behalf of the DVLA, Motability and healthcare professionals.

Focusing on younger people with disabilities, novice drivers and individuals that have recently become disabled, QEF Mobility Services is hosting the first in a series of free-to-attend Get Going Live! events.

Additional features of the event will include free test drives and driving assessments; assistive products such as WAVs, mobility scooters and wheelchairs; a range of adapted driving controls; educational presentations about accessible motoring; and accessible aviation travel training.

The event will take place on Friday 5th October from 9:30am-4pm in Carshalton, SM5 4NR.

Driving Mobility oversees a network of 20 member centres covering England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which offer professional information, advice and assessment to people who need to gain or retain independence through mobility.
