Sheffield-based children’s postural support specialist Jiraffe is set to host a beneficial CPD seminar at the Kidz to Adultz Middle exhibition tomorrow in Coventry.

Aimed at caregivers and occupational therapists, Richard Harvey, National Clinical Training Manager at Jiraffe, will lead the free CPD seminar – named ‘Assessing for Seating: Implications within a 24Hour Postural Management Plan’.

The aim of the seminar is to gain and develop an understanding of the importance of 24-hour postural management and how seating fits in to this programme. It will take place at 11:30am in Seminar Room 2 – Directors Lounge – at Kidz Middle.

Richard said: “Myself and the Jiraffe team are looking forward to passing on our expertise to attendees at the seminar. The session will provide some valuable insight into managing seating correctly and how this is vital for consistent postural management.”

The seminar will highlight the internal and external factors that affect a person’s posture, including applied forces to the body and how detrimental this can be.

Richard will also cover the importance of early intervention to gain a better outcome for a child with neuro-disabilities, and how to undertake a postural assessment for seating, tips on how to accurately assess the needs of a client and how to get the best out of a seating system.

Jiraffe will be on Stand D4 at the event in Coventry – also showcasing its new standing frames alongside a range of seating and mobility systems.

Hosted by Disabled Living, Kidz to Adultz Middle will take place on the 4th of March in the Ericsson Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena from 9:30am-4:30pm.

The distribution division of Jenx, Jiraffe has been researching, designing and manufacturing developmental postural equipment to support children with specific postural needs since 1982.
