CloserStill Media, organisers of The OT Show, have decided to postpone this year’s event to the 24th-25th of November 2021, in light of possible risks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although the Prime Minister has said that business events and conferences will be able to resume from 1st October 2020, provided rates of infection remain at current levels, The OT Show team felt that the most “ethical and moral” decision based on feedback from its exhibitors, delegates and speakers was to postpone this year’s show.

Originally scheduled to take place from 25th-26th November 2020, The Occupational Therapy Show (OT Show) is the UK’s largest dedicated CPD education and trade event for OTs and managers working with the equipment services teams alongside them.

With 80+ hours of CPD available, thousands of OTs visit the show every year, with the conference programme covering a wide range of topics, including moving & handling, paediatrics and housing.

In a release about the decision to postpone The OT Show 2020, CloserStill Media said: “With the possibility of a second Covid-19 wave, the feedback we have received from all our partners is, as the largest and most established gathering of OT professionals in the UK; we should not run the show this year.

“OTs work with the most vulnerable in our society and we have a responsibility to protect them and their clients, and we feel strongly that the risk of attending any event this year is far too high.”

The OT Show will still take place at the same location in November 2021: the NEC in Birmingham, CloserStill has confirmed.

However, instead of running a physical OT event this year, CloserStill has launched The Virtual Care Festival in partnership with The Care Show: a virtual platform for OTs to gain CPD-accredited education for free.

The Virtual Care Festival boasts a programme of educational content from exhibitors and delegates from the OT Show and The Care Show, which gives OTs the chance to meet like-minded professionals and enhance their CPD learning.
