A versatile standing frame offering disabled children 10 years of growth and support will be launched at this year’s Kidz South, an exhibition dedicated to children with disabilities and special needs.

Jiraffe, UK distributors of innovative postural support and service products, has introduced the improved Multistander 2 to its popular range of support equipment from Jenx Ltd and will showcase the product on Stand 308 at Kidz South on 4 June in Reading.

Standing involves many different positions and a child might want to stand prone (tilted forward), upright or supine (supported from behind) and although each position offers specific benefits, they all offer greater weight bearing through a child’s legs which helps to strengthen bones.

The Multistander 2 can grow with a child – from the age of three up to their 13th birthday. When a child becomes too heavy to lift, the stander can be changed from prone to supine positioning and a hoist used to transfer the child whilst the frame is at horizontal. This versatility can remove the requirement for repeat assessments for new products and a likely interruption in the continuity of standing development.

Available in six colours, the Multistander 2 has new powered and manual base adjustment options to meet the needs of the parent/carer. The powered option removes any manual handling concerns as the motor works to tilt the user to the preferred angle easily and safely, while the manual option has a more cost effective, robust winder mechanism. The stand is simple to use ensuring safe and dignified transfers for the user.

New accessories to support Multistander 2 users, include the Multigrip Body Support for added shoulder stability and lumbar area support and also the Jenx Waistcoat Harness for maximum trunk control.

At Kidz South, Jiraffe will also showcase the Dreama positioning system, a combined pressure reducing mattress and postural support system which can be used through the night.

The Kidz South exhibition is free to attend, and will feature over 120 exhibitors, including Jiraffe who will be at Stand 308.
