A free CPD webinar for occupational therapists (OTs) is being held next week to educate delegates about use of adaptations as part of a rehabilitation plan for people who have been affected by stoke.

Closomat, in partnership with The OT Service, is providing the CPD session for healthcare workers via Zoom on Thursday 15th July at 11am (and repeated at 6pm).

With well over 120,000 people of all ages being affected by stroke, the accessible bathing specialist highlights, either their first or a reoccurring event, rehabilitation is key to allow survivors a chance of living their life as independently as possible.

Leading the charge in this rehabilitation OTs. With almost one million people in the UK currently living with the effects of stroke, it’s likely that an OT’s caseloads will feature someone who needs specialist help, Closomat says.

‘Post-stroke adaptations: Rehabilitation and compensation’ is the latest in Closomat’s OT Webinar Series, which have been attended by thousands of OTs, making them one of the most-watched group of virtual events in the healthcare sector, the company adds.

Robin Tuffley, Closomat Marketing Manager, commented: “It’s likely that most of us know someone that has suffered a stroke, such are their prevalence these days.

“With stroke survivors experiencing all manner of differing effects and limitations as a result of their stroke, implementing an individual approach is key.”

Scheduled to run for an hour, the webinar’s learning outcomes will be:

  • Reflect on use of adaptations as part of a rehabilitation plan.
  • Consider application of long-term conditions in relation to adaptations and rehabilitation.
  • Discuss adaptation considerations specific to stroke recovery and rehabilitation.

The event will also provide attendees a forum to ask questions at the end of the webinar and have them answered live by a specialist OT.
