To help solve the “huge” issue of independent bed transfers in the community, Occupational Therapist Shaun Masters, from Therapsoture, will be presenting express CPD seminars at The OT Show.

Taking place annually, the OT Show gives occupational therapists (OTs) the chance to discover new assistive technologies from exhibitors, get CPD-accredited experience by attending workshops and lectures, and network with other OTs.

One of the main attractions for attendees is the chance to discover new assistive technologies for their clients. From bespoke seating options and home adaptation solutions to pressure care innovations and telecare advancements, the exhibition is a chance to learn more about life-changing devices that enable people to live independently.

The OT Show 2022 takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 23-24 November.

Theraposture will be presenting its express CPD seminar on stand G51 at the OT Show.

Titled ‘Getting legs into bed’, the 15-minute session will run on both days at the show at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm.

The presentation will focus on key considerations regarding a safe transfer into, out of, and away from a bed. From a clinical point of view, Shaun will demonstrate why a Theracare Leg Lifter and a Rotoflex rotating bed system can be appropriate for improved occupational performance in a variety of client scenarios.

He will focus on achieving client enablement and independence along with reduced carer intervention and cost. The seminars will feature the Rotoflex 235 Plus Mk2 rotational bed – the OT Show ‘Excellence in Caring’ Award winner.

By attending, OTs will see and try proven solutions to the problem of getting in and out of bed; there will be interactive demonstrations of a Leg Lifter and single Rotoflex bed.

OTs will also understand potential care cost savings and reduced carer intervention; why certain products are relevant to medical conditions; and the latest legislation for appropriate bed prescription.

Additionally, OTs will gather case studies for evidence of successful outcomes and add to CPD hours by receiving a certificate for their portfolio.

This content is part of the ongoing educational CPD programme from Theraposture. Its Trusted Assessors will be available to explain further about the firm’s free ‘Lunch n Learn’ product demonstrations and live CPD webinars.

In September 2022, Shaun also presented a CPD session called ‘Understanding Paediatric Cot Bed Legislation in Clinical Practice’. According to Theraposture, cot bed regulations are complex and can be misunderstood by clinicians when prescribing cot beds for clients. The aim of the session was to provide information that specifically relates to the BS EN regulations.

Additionally, on stand G51, Theraposture will showcase its fast delivery padded care cot packages, free bed moves, price matching promise, and free home and video client product assessments.
