Assistive bathing supplier Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions will be demonstrating its power-assisted baths and presenting its latest educational seminar to healthcare professionals at Kidz to Adultz Middle.

At the Coventry event, Abacus will be providing live demonstrations of its latest power-assisted baths whilst explaining its complete bathroom service and offering one-to-one advice.

Free literature will also be available including client case studies, training courses, bath ownership guides and information to assist with successful DFG funding applications.

This educational content will be supported by a bathing seminar delivered by OT Adam Ferry in association with Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions.

‘Bathing and Sleep – joining the dots’

Seminar Room 1, 1.00pm.

Exploring the link between bathing and sleep, this seminar will focus on how a good night-time routine can improve sleep for children, their family and carers. It will incorporate both professional and personal experiences whilst reflecting on bathing as an occupation to support clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.

Learning outcomes:

  • Delegates will reflect on bathing as a meaningful occupation
  • Greater appreciation of the link between bathing and sleep
  • Consider impact of a positive bedtime routine on clients and their carers
  • Develop greater understanding of equipment available to support bathing as a meaningful occupation

On stand E14, the Gemini 2000 bath will be displayed – winner of the ‘Excellence in Caring’ award at last year’s OT Show. This pioneering hi-lo, two-metre bath is a larger version of the popular Gemini 1700 and provides future-proofed bathing for disabled adults and children.

Its unique ‘double lift action’ and integrated changing, drying and bathing platform ensures a significant reduction in the number of bather transfers required – enhancing comfort, safety and dignity.

Alongside the Gemini, the new and equally spacious Aries 2000 variable height bath will be on display. Debuting at its first Kidz event, the Aries 2000 incorporates either a powered or manual bather transfer seat for bathers who require greater postural support.

Both of the latest Abacus specialist baths incorporate pioneering BioCote antimicrobial technology which provides 99.9 percent protection against harmful superbugs. Integrated during the manufacturing process, this infection control innovation significantly reduces the risk from Influenza H1N1, E.coli, Salmonella and antibiotic resistance microbes.

Finally, young visitors will be able to enter the popular prize draw to win a cuddly toy version of the sought-after company mascot, Trevor the Turtle.

Kidz to Adultz Middle will take place on the 4th of March, 9.00am-4.30pm, in the Ericsson Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
