AKW Onyx range extension image

Accessibility solutions specialist AKW has extended its stylish Onyx wet room and shower range to include a new ergonomic wash basin and matte black fixed and deflector shower screens.

The Onyx range has been designed to offer occupational therapists, retirement home developers, installers and users a seamlessly integrated bathroom solution for “beautiful” and inclusive living.

Developed with style and mobility in mind, the new Onyx ergonomic wash basin has a curved, concave front for closer access for wheelchair users and oval shaped hand grip holes in the sides for maximum user support.

In addition, the new Onyx aluminium framed, matte black fixed and deflector shower screens have been included in the range due to the trend for this profile finish in contemporary bathroom design. The screens are 1900mm high and available in 800mm, 900mm and 1000mm widths. The width of the 180° pivoting deflector panel is 400mm.

The Onyx range also includes stylish shower seats, as well as a high slip resistant and contemporary shower tray, both in a range of colourways and with a 200kg maximum weight load. To add to this, the range includes black, chrome, duo black and duo white grab rails that can support up to 150kg and an extensive range of minimalist chrome, black and white colour option Onyx accessories.

Stuart Reynolds, Head of Product and Marketing at AKW, commented: “Designed with safety and sophistication in mind, the Onyx range is the ideal solution for retirement home developers and private pay end users.

“In addition, those with Disabled Facilities Grants can also pay extra to upgrade some of their products to Onyx, ensuring their inclusive bathroom is stylish as well as practical.”

AKW works closely with occupational therapists and healthcare professionals to design and manufacture a full range of easy access showering, kitchens and mobility support products. Its clients include the majority of local authorities, housing associations as well as national and regional contractors.
