Stiltz to heighten client well-being and discuss health and safety benefits of homelifts at OT Show
Multi award-winning domestic lift manufacturer Stiltz will educate delegates about the health and safety benefits of homelifts at The Occupational Therapy Show 2019.
The OT Show is a well-attended event for healthcare professionals seeking the latest adaptive equipment, specialist services and CPD training to assist with everyday practice.
New for 2019, Stiltz will focus on the importance of social inclusion and accessibility within the home with a view to enhancing occupational performance. Its stand will showcase the Duo+ two-person lift and the Trio+ which accommodates three people, powerchairs or wheelchairs.
Many elderly and disabled clients rely on manual assistance from relatives and carers to access upstairs. This dependency can result in a loss of self-esteem and detrimentally reduce physical and mental health, says Stiltz. From a practical point of view, bathrooms and bedrooms may not be accessible resulting in compromised hygiene and sleeping behaviour.
With an effective homelift, resultant strain on NHS services and social care can be reduced alongside the potential for costly home conversions or relocation, a point which Stiltz will be emphasising at the event. Enablement within the community is protected and residential care can be avoided, which helps ensure a positive outcome for everyone involved, the company adds.
From a safety point of view, Stiltz homelifts provide appropriate and supported transfers of ambulant and wheelchair clients. Through simple and controlled operation, the risk of falls whilst using stairs is eliminated and transfer complications are negated.
In addition, the negative connotations and space issues commonly associated with stairlifts are avoided with an unobtrusive homelift that is positioned elsewhere in the home, Stiltz adds. Moreover, Stiltz’s homelifts do not require a shaft and plug into a standard domestic power socket.
According to the company, its homelifts are well respected by OTs in terms of design, safety and performance. Stiltz trusted assessors work closely with healthcare professionals so individual client needs are met through a clinically-led approach.
At The OT Show, occupational evidence of successful outcomes will also be available alongside guidance regarding DFG funding for homelifts – supported by eye-catching ‘Stiltz walkers’ around the show.
Stiltz will be exhibiting on Stand C50 at The OT Show, which takes place from the 27th-28th of November at the NEC in Birmingham
