Ramsey Hulbert providing Powerchair Training pre-COVID
Ramsey Hulbert providing Powerchair Training pre-COVID

A new webinar is set to provide clinicians useful, evidence-based insights into powerchairs and their functions to help clients reach their goals.

The one-hour session will be hosted by Innova Care Concepts, a specialist in the supply of a wide range of medical equipment for clinical negligence and personal injury clients, including power wheelchairs, hoist systems, profiling beds, pressure care mattresses, and bathroom adaptations.

Taking place on 17 September at 3pm, the webinar will cover the clinical and functional benefits that powered wheelchairs can facilitate, with a particular focus on the evidence supporting the use of different powerchair functions.

The hour-long ‘Reaching client goals with power wheelchairs’ session will be presented by Innova’s resident powerchair expert Ramsey Hulbert, who has an extensive 15+ years’ experience in the field of powered mobility.

“Power wheelchairs are great because there are so many ways you can customise them to suit individual users,” commented Ramsey.

“Combining different components and functions lets you adapt the chair to help clients reach their goals.

“You can continually make changes as their needs change. Newer innovations, like standing functions, have taken what you can achieve for mobility status, participation, and quality of life to the next level. I’m looking forward to sharing some of our clients’ experiences.”

Innova will be joined by powerchair manufacturer Permobil’s Clinical & Training Manager for Permobil EMEA, Arne Compernolle.

The pair will focus on the power seat and standing functions, with three key learning outcomes:

  • Understanding the different power seat functions and the potential outcomes they can facilitate for clients
  • Explore the functional and clinical benefits of using standing function
  • Understand the real-world experiences of power wheelchair users through client interviews

“Evidence-based motivation has always been essential,” commented Arne.

“For clinicians, it’s the critical argument when justifying reimbursement and/or other funding resources. In order to provide users with products aligned to their needs and potential, you must have evidence.

“That’s my personal inspiration for providing evidence-based education to my peer clinicians and assistive technology providers.”

An open Q&A session will conclude the session.

Following the live webinar, Innova will distribute a recording and handout to all registered attendees – including those unable to attend the live session.

The new powerchair-focused webinar follows the successful launch of InnovaLive – a free online training service – back in May by the Yorkshire-based equipment provider.
