Adaptive stroller designed to help children take part in physical activities while maintaining good posture
A supplier of multifunctional sit to stand systems, orthopaedic paediatric seating and special strollers, Baffin Technology Systems has newly launched YOGI, a unique three-in-one adaptive stroller device.
The stroller has been designed for children with a wide range of conditions, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy and those who have had a spinal injury.
The YOGI is distinctive because it allows children to join in with physical activities while ensuring the child maintains a good postural position and is safe at all times. For example, parents and carers can take their child with them on a run, or if the family is going on a bike ride it can be easily attached to the rear of a bicycle and be used as a trailer.
For added safety and to assist the parent or carer, the YOGI features an adjustable handle, swivel front wheel, parking brake and reflective strips and can be easily folded for transportation.
The YOGI is also ideal for children with unequal leg lengths as the seat depth for the right and left leg can be set differently.
The integrated seat is what sets the YOGI apart from other similar strollers, according to the supplier, as the seat depth is adjustable and the angle of the seat can also be adjusted by 8⁰, 13⁰, 23⁰ or 28⁰.
Additional support and comfort are provided by pelvic stabilisation belts, an anatomically correct headrest, three-point safety belt, large rear tyres and adjustable shock absorption system.
This adjustability combined with the adjustable independent hip and chest supports ensure that the child is always as comfortable and supported as possible.
Weighing 20kg, the YOGI has been designed for children up to a height of 130cm and has a maximum user weight capacity of 40kg.
Founder of Baffin Technology Systems Marzena Komisarczuk commented: “Here at Baffin Technology, we are always looking to enhance our product portfolio and the YOGI does exactly that.
“As with all our products, the YOGI has been designed with the user and parent/carer in mind and will help families enjoy fun days out which might otherwise not be possible.”
The YOGI also meets the requirements of European standard EN 15918:2011+A2:2017 for bicycles, bicycle trailers, safety requirements and test methods.
At this year’s Kidz to Adultz Middle event, Baffin Technology Systems showcased several examples from its portfolio of paediatric equipment to attending occupational therapists (OTs), parents, carers, and young people.
Baffin works closely with therapists, parents, carers, business partners and the manufacturer to supply innovative, quality and multifunctional equipment that improves the lives of children and adults with disabilities.
