A new community equipment service (CES) has been secured by provider Medequip in Norfolk, where it will be responsible for procuring, storing, delivering, installing, maintaining, collecting, and reusing a range of health and daily living equipment and undertaking minor housing adaptations.

Medequip has been commissioned by Norfolk County Council (NCC), the lead for the Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) for Norfolk & Waveney, to provide the CES with effect from 1 April 2023.

The outsourced CES provider has begun work to mobilise the new arrangements in order to ensure a smooth transition while the process for those who use the service is unchanged at the current time.

Gary Heathcote, Director of Commissioning for Adult Social Care within Norfolk County Council, commented on the award: “I am confident that in the award of the contract to Medequip, that the service from Medequip will deliver quality in service delivery, value for money, innovation.

“And fully supporting the strategic intent of Norfolk & Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS), to help the people of Norfolk and Waveney to live longer, healthier and happier lives.”

Medequip looks to support people through the application of its vision and values to retain skills and maximise user independence by delivering services with care and undertaking regular user engagement to develop and innovate services.

Recently, Medequip was commissioned by Somerset County Council and NHS Somerset to provide the newly integrated Community Equipment and Wheelchair Service across the county for five years.
