Designability has announced that applications for an accessible pushchair are now open. The charity is providing 20 of them free of charge.

Those who could benefit from an accessible pushchair, such as manual wheelchair users in the UK that care for a young child who requires the use of a pram or pushchair, and are happy to provide some photos, videos, and feedback on how it is being used, are invited to apply.

The devices are not compatible with powerchairs.

This initiative is not just limited to parents or carers; Designability invites those that help to care for a child and who may use it a less frequently, including aunties, uncles, and grandparents, to apply too.

The deadline for applying for a pushchair is 17 February 2025. Designability hopes to begin handovers and shipments from March onwards.

Interested applicants can complete a short form, and then someone in the Designability communications team will be in touch in due course with the outcome.

Designability is a charity that uses person-centred design to create products with and for disabled people to improve and enrich their lives.

A state-of-the-art wheelchair buggy, designed to affix to wheelchairs and help parents safely transport their children, also won a design competition.
