Opportunity for professionals to hear directly from the officials behind the DFG funding proposals
The UK Government is proposing a new formula for allocating Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) funding, and Foundations is presenting the opportunity to hear directly from the officials behind the proposals.
Representatives from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) will join Foundations live to explain the thinking behind the new formula, walk through what is changing and why, and answer technical questions.
The session will take place on 4 September, 2.30pm-3.30pm. It is open to everyone involved in delivering DFGs, from housing, to social care, finance, or commissioning.
Foundations asks attendees to send questions in advance to info@foundations.uk.com so that it can put as many as possible to the panel.
The consultation is about the future funding formula; it won’t include any comparison to current allocations or individual changes in funding. The focus is on creating a fairer system for the long term.
Councils and other stakeholders were invited to respond to a UK Government consultation on its proposals to change the way it allocates funding for DFGs to local authorities in England.
The UK Government states that later this year, it will be publishing a long-term housing strategy, setting out a long-term vision for a housing market that works for communities, builds 1.5 million high-quality homes, and delivers the biggest increase in social and affordable housebuilding for a generation.
People of all ages and tenures should be able to live safely in a home suited to their needs, including adapted homes, says the UK Government. Home adaptations can give older and disabled people the choice to safely remain in their own homes for longer; help to prevent hospitalisation; avoid long stays in hospital; enhance independence; and reduce the amount of care and support required.
