WHILL Model C from TGA, a mobility aid which the company says has “cutting-edge” transportability, style and manoeuvrability, has been awarded the ‘Best of the Best’ Red Dot Design Award 2018.

Established in 1955, The Red Dot Award is one of the most esteemed design awards in the world and this year saw over 6,000 product applications from more than 59 countries, which were assessed by a panel of international jurors.

Red Dot Awards are given to products that are innovative and with high design quality, with the most ground-breaking designs receiving the ‘Best of the Best’ classification. WHILL Model C achieved this honoured accolade within the healthcare category.

This latest achievement adds to the collection of accolades already achieved by WHILL Model C which includes a CES 2018 Innovation Award, If Design Award, International Design Excellence Award and Japan’s Good Design Award.

According to TGA, the success of WHILL Model C within these award programmes is testament to its exceptional design and ability to change peoples’ lives as it provides the opportunity for wider independence both in terms of user demographic and accessibility.

It can be dismantled into three lightweight components for easy transportation and its ‘Omni’ wheels provide a tight turning circle for versatility inside and out.

Combined with touch-sensitive ‘mouse style’ steering, remote control App and streamlined aesthetics, the WHILL Model C aims to deliver a new level of self-assurance and inclusion to people living with restricted mobility.

Daniel Stone, Managing Director at TGA, said: “Once again this latest award highlights how WHILL Model C has successfully challenged mobility convention. No other product is able to deliver such a positive and supportive experience for greater self-esteem.

“As a category-defining product, WHILL Model C has been developed with the wheelchair user fully in mind. It is a solution designed to allow people to achieve their full potential whilst delivering confidence through contemporary aesthetics.

“WHILL Model C is truly a game-changer and its developers fully deserve this latest accolade. We are proud to provide such a world-leading, user-centric product and as our motto states…where there’s a WHILL – there’s a winner!”
