Strongback

TGA Mobility will be unveiling the latest version of its ergonomic and lightweight StrongBack wheelchair at Trade Days.

Trade Days is the trade only show for retailers, distributors, manufacturers and suppliers which is held at the NEC on Sunday October 8th and Monday October 9th 2017.

The StrongBack is a Swiss-designed, foldable wheelchair that is lightweight, ergonomic and encompasses an innovative contoured backrest for effective lumbar support. The new model is a manual self-propelling version that includes all the benefits of the previous StrongBack and has a remarkable 135kg user weight capacity for such a lightweight design.

The design of a traditional folding wheelchair commonly includes a vertical backrest, ineffective ergonomics and unsupportive materials that do not provide appropriate postural positioning and stability for a user. Without effective lumbar support and the ability to achieve a neutral trunk, pelvic and spinal position, wheelchair users are prone to poor posture and subsequent discomfort. TGA has worked closely with its Swiss manufacturer to continue development of the StrongBack concept so that users with upper body mobility can benefit from a better manual wheelchair.

Features include 24’’ quick release wheels, anti-tip castors and an extremely low lifting weight of 7.9kg (without wheels and leg rests). The StrongBack is available with 40 and 45cm seat widths and is fitted with attendant brakes. When folded the StrongBack is easily handled through its compact shape and lightweight components so storage in a car boot is hassle-free.
