MiGuardian website homepage

Millbrook Healthcare, an outsourced equipment provider to the NHS and local authorities has relaunched Mi-Guardian with a new website and product range, making the company’s assistive technology products easier to purchase online and offering an easily accessible 24-hour telecare service for clients.

Mi-Guardian offers a range of telecare products for clients to purchase, including both digital and analogue alarm systems such as alarm pendants and wrist bands, fall detectors and bogus caller alarms. The equipment provider intends to extend the product offering further to include smoke, heat, and carbon detectors.

Mi-Guardian forms an “integral” part of enablement for service users who may be at the end of their local authority support but who want to continue with their assistive technology products and can self-pay, according to Millbrook Healthcare. With the new website relaunch, potential service users can find out more about Millbrook Healthcare’s telecare offering easily and pay online with no upfront costs.

The Mi-Guardian 24/7 telecare service provides safety benefits such as a 365-days-a-year monitoring service, with a call centre managed exclusively by Millbrook Healthcare, meaning no outsourced calls for users.

All calls are monitored by a specialist team at the Worcester-based call centre providing round-the-clock support.

If any of the clients are in need of assistance, they can press the button on their digital or analogue device and calls will be answered immediately where the team will either contact a family member, friend or call emergency services on their behalf.

For health and social care professionals, there is also a case studies section on the website, which highlights some of the ways in which telecare has supported individuals to stay safe, connected and independent in real life. For clients looking to pay for a private telecare service, this section could be useful to show users some demonstrable benefits of the Mi-Guardian technology-enabled care (TEC) service.

Last August, Millbrook Healthcare assisted the occupational therapy service at Shetland Islands Council in urging local residents to return any unwanted assistive equipment by offering a free collection service.

Millbrook Healthcare is a major provider of community equipment, wheelchair, home improvement agency and telecare services, with 45 service centres located across England.

It currently supports several local authority contracts with telecare packages for thousands of clients, helping clients to stay in their homes for longer, prevent hospital admissions, and facilitate a safe and timely discharge from hospital.
