Users, healthcare professionals, and carers will have the chance to view new modern straight and curved stairlifts at this week’s Rehacare.

Rehacare is the world’s largest trade fair for rehabilitation and care, with experts, decision-makers, disability and medical equipment users, and relatives all invited to attend. It is also a place for health and social care professionals to source the latest assistive technologies for their clients. This year’s event takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 14-17 September.

On stand B28 in Hall, 6 Access BDD will be debuting the recently launched HomeGlide straight stairlift along with its Flow X curved stairlift.

Building on the success of the original HomeGlide, the new model has been redefined to meet the needs of modern-day users, according to the firm.

An increased seat depth and reduced back-to-knee length allows for a better postural position, while the luxurious padding ensures a firm and comfortable seat. The warm grey colour of the upholstery is a modern neutral tone, which will “blend seamlessly in every household”.

This new design with an increased maximum weight capacity of 136-160kg means HomeGlide will be suitable for more users, Access BDD highlights.

For increased safety and peace of mind for the user, their family, and other people involved in their care, the HomeGlide has several new safety features. These include an armrest detection system, a safety belt, and an emergency stop button to ensure it meets all the latest EN81-40 regulations.

For additional safety, the HomeGlide will automatically come to a stop should any obstacles be encountered by the special safety edges that are built into the drive unit. For use in more confined staircases and landing areas, the HomeGlide has a compact folding design while the remote-control handset enables it to be parked at either end of the staircase.

There is also an upgrade ‘Extra Pack’ option available, which provides the user with a call device, auto-swivel seat, and linked powered footrest.

Adam Wakes, Marketing Manager for Access BDD, commented: “We are very excited about showcasing this latest addition to our product portfolio at Rehacare to visitors from around the world.

“Here at Access BDD, we are always looking to offer our business partners and their customers the latest in stairlift and home lift technology and believe we have once again achieved this with the new HomeGlide.  Designed by the same engineers who were responsible for our market-leading Flow X, the HomeGlide offers another innovative stairlift solution.”

Complementing the HomeGlide will be the Flow X. The Flow X curved stairlift features Advanced Swivel and Levelling technology (ASL), which enables the stairlift to rotate and swivel during travel, ensuring that the stairlift is always in the safest and most comfortable position.

ASL technology enables the footrest to remain independent from the drive unit and swivel with the seat. This allows the user to sit comfortably as they do not have to bend their knees as much, which helps with better posture.

There are four rail options available: standard drop nose, vertical ‘short-start’ drop nose, horizontal overrun, and parking curve. Unlike some models, there are no mechanical parts on show. The Flow X has a maximum weight capacity of 125kg and can be fitted on staircases as narrow as 610mm.
