Impey wetroom adaptation image

At the upcoming OT Show, occupational therapists (OTs) will have to chance to experience an immersive 4D showering experience that explores the “future of wetroom adaptations”.

On stand F32, UK wetroom manufacturer Impey will use immersive virtual reality (VR) technology that creates a 360-degree vision of the future for OTs to experience.

This year’s OT Show takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 23-24 November.

Every year, the show gives OTs the chance to discover new assistive technologies from exhibitors, get CPD-accredited experience by attending workshops and lectures, and network with other OTs.

One of the main attractions for attendees is the chance to discover new assistive technologies for their clients. From bespoke seating options and home adaptation solutions to pressure care innovations and telecare advancements, the exhibition is a chance to learn more about life-changing devices that enable people to live independently.

At the OT Show 2022, Impey is hoping to push boundaries by giving the occupational therapy community an insight into the “adapted wetrooms of the future”.

Focusing on the theme ‘adapting for change’, visitors to the Impey stand will be able to immerse themselves in a virtual showcase of the firm’s wetroom adaptation options.

Using VR, OTs will step inside Impey’s visionary showering spaces, which combine elegant, ergonomic solutions with practicality, convenience, and quality. The brand’s expansive portfolio of products on display will include: high performance wetroom floor formers, shower trays with graded slip resistance, multi-function grab rails, glass screens and modern shower seating.

Impey’s VR experience is also the technology behind the brand’s bathroom surveys. Using full-colour 3D renders, the team is able to create a realistic vision of accessible showering. This benefits everyone involved in the adaptations, including OTs, installers, landlords, and users.

Neil Whitehead, Head of Marketing at Impey, commented: “We know that OTs provide a critical service for the specification of safe and functional showering spaces. We want to offer the best possible support to help navigate technical surveys, building regulations, funding, and compliance; enabling OTs to create the vital showering spaces which their clients and service users desperately need.

“Our stand at this year’s OT show aims to showcase the future of wetroom adaptations and dispel the myth that accessible showering spaces should be unattractive or purely clinical. We know, from extensive use in the retail sector, that exploring room sets in virtual reality offers a revolutionary new way of understanding how a bathroom works and feels.

“We’re confident that the OT community will be inspired by the new technology, and we’re also very excited to see the reactions!”
