At the OT Show 2022, attending occupational therapists (OTs) will have the chance to see several modern stairlifts, which boast helpful benefits like quick installation, fitting to narrow staircases, and rotation and swivelling technology.

On stand D41, Access BDD, a supplier of stairlifts, homelifts, and platform lifts, will be exhibiting the recently launched HomeGlide straight stairlift alongside the Flow X curved stairlift.

There will be working models of both the Flow X and HomeGlide on display for OTs and clients to see and try out for themselves.

Taking place annually, the OT Show gives OTs the chance to discover new assistive technologies from exhibitors, get CPD-accredited experience by attending workshops and lectures, and network with other OTs.

One of the main attractions for attendees is the chance to discover new assistive technologies for their clients. From bespoke seating options and home adaptation solutions to pressure care innovations and telecare advancements, the exhibition is a chance to learn more about life-changing devices that enable people to live independently.

The OT Show 2022 takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 23-24 November.

Andrew Warbrick, Managing Director, Access BDD, commented: “OTs play a vital role in specifying a significant number of the stairlifts that are installed by our partners so to have the chance to engage with so many from around the UK at The OT Show is a fantastic opportunity for us as a business.

“Myself and the rest of the team are looking forward to this event and hearing what OTs think of the stairlifts we will have on show.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to the OT sector, we are in the process of drawing up plans for a new showroom and demonstration area at our Teesside headquarters where OT’s will be able to see our full range of stairlifts, home lifts and platform lifts.”

It will be the first time the HomeGlide stairlift has been exhibited in the UK following its launch in the summer.

A standout feature of the HomeGlide straight stairlift is that the slimline rail is fitted to the staircase rather than the wall, allowing for quick installation with minimum disruption to the home. It is suitable for staircases as narrow as 740mm and can be fitted on the left- or right-hand side.

HomeGlide claims to have a firm and comfortable seat for lots of support and has a maximum weight capacity of 160kg.

The straight stairlift is available with an Extra or Outdoor package, allowing the user to tailor the lift to their needs. The Extra package features a powered swivel seat and linked footrest for those with limited mobility. For outdoor environments, the Outdoor package is available with a key lock and has a weatherproof coating to protect against rain, dust, and direct sunlight.

Access BDD will also showcase the Flow X curved stairlift at the OT Show 2022.

This model features Advanced Swivel and Levelling (ASL) technology, which enables the stairlift to rotate and swivel during travel. This ensures that the stairlift is always in the safest and most comfortable position. ASL technology allows the footrest to remain independent from the drive unit and swivel with the seat. It promotes a natural and comfortable seating position.

Plus, there are no mechanical parts on show. Flow X further has a maximum weight capacity of 125kg and can be fitted on staircases as narrow as 610mm.
