Innovators of assistive technologies can now submit entries for the Med-Tech Innovation Awards across six categories, including 3D Printing, Design and Connected Health.

Organisations with ground-breaking success stories can submit entries for a chance to gain recognition from esteemed judges, industry professionals and peers.

Entries are free and submissions close on Wednesday 1 March 2023. The Med-Tech Innovation Awards will take place on 7 June 2023.

According to Med-Tech Innovation, those that enter gain excellent exposure. Products that win an award give companies global recognition and enables winners to gain an ‘award-winning’ title, which advances client trust and boosts the company’s profile.

Previous winners include Acurable, Meryl Medical, Birmingham Biotech, and Adapttech.

Finalists will be selected by an expert panel of judges and winners will then be announced at the Med-Tech Innovation Awards Ceremony at the NEC in Birmingham, with celebrity host JJ Chalmers.

The awards ceremony will coincide with the Med-Tech Innovation Expo, a UK and Ireland event for medical device manufacturing. It will be held alongside the Medilink UK Healthcare Business Awards.

The ‘Manufacturing Excellence’ category focuses on the manufacture of a medical device. Entrants should detail an innovation in manufacturing process or technique that improved the outcome of the product.

‘Connected Health’ category entrants will have the chance to explain how they developed the design or manufacture of a cutting-edge connected medical device.

This year’s ‘3D Printing’ category gives entrants the chance to demonstrate how the use of 3D printing has enhanced or fundamentally improved the design or manufacture of medical devices.

Whereas ‘Design’ focuses on the design or redesign of a medical device; entrants must explain what clinical need was identified, and how this need was met through the innovative use of unique design developments.

‘Materials Innovation’ allows entrants to explain why a new or repurposed material has been pivotal to the creation of a medical device.

Finally, ‘Sustainability’ category entrants must demonstrate how innovation in design or manufacture has reduced the environmental footprint of a medical device.

Ian Bolland, Acting Group Editor of Med-Tech Innovation News and Medical Plastics News, said: “The 2022 awards highlighted the massive contribution medical technology companies make to the economy and society and I look forward to seeing more ground-breaking innovations from the 2023 entrants.”
