Assistive bathing specialist Closomat has launched two new CPD-certified webinars for occupational therapists (OTs) about working with bariatric clients.

These webinars explore specialist bathroom design to ensure independence and dignity for bariatric patients.

By attending, OTs will develop an understanding of anthropometrics and its importance. They will also gain an overview of planning a home environment for bariatric clients (with focus on the bathroom).

The effect of being plus-sized on occupation and the importance of assessment and activity analysis will further be explored in the CPD session.

Finally, attendees will review the role of the occupational therapist in aspects of dignity and choice.

‘Working with plus size (bariatric) people: Design, independence and dignity’ will take place twice on 20th April 2021. The first session will run live at 11am and the second webinar will re-run via recording at 6pm.

Closomat has previously highlighted to healthcare professionals the benefits of having accessible toilet fixtures in their clients’ homes as they can help eliminate the need for care intervention, promote independence and reduce the risk of falls.
