Housing network to investigate how assistive tech can be implemented in retirement living
The Housing Learning and Improvement Network (Housing LIN) is hosting a free webinar that will shine a spotlight on the INVITE project by Stonewater, which aims to investigate how assistive and everyday technologies can be implemented in retirement living properties to improve residents’ quality of life and sustain inclusive communities.
Taking place on Tuesday 4 October, the webinar, ‘Ageing well with Assistive Technology’, will run from 4pm-5.15pm and interested attendees can book for free here. Attendees will be asked to join the webinar 10 minutes before the start time to allow for a prompt start.
The webinar follows the announcement of moving into of phase two of the ‘Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation – from Principles to Implementation’ report, which sets out 10 practical principles to build technology into housing in a way that improves life for our ageing population and wins widespread support.
TAPPI Phase 2 will ensure that the evidence gathered by the Inquiry in Phase 1 is built upon and used to create widely accepted Framework which embeds the recommended TAPPI Principles within a transformational change programme.
The session will look at the work of the University of Stirling and the co-produced research conducted with Stonewater Housing, funded by the Longleigh Foundation with Dr Vikki McCall from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stirling, and a member of the TAPPI2 Steering Board along with representatives/residents from Stonewater Housing.

As a result of the pandemic, Housing LIN created its HAPPI Hour brand for people to learn more about specific topics in a series of virtual sessions.
Recently, findings of research undertaken by Appello and Housing LIN found that 89 percent of specialist housing providers believe their frontline staff have a greater appetite for using technology in their roles due to COVID-19.
