Leckey issues safety notice to carers and healthcare professionals following reports of broken latches on Floorsitters
Leckey, a supplier of specialist paediatric products, has issued an urgent field safety notice for its height-adjustable Firefly Floorsitters supplied before 31st January 2018.
Issued by James Leckey Design, the notice is aimed at users, carers, parents, healthcare professionals and distribution partners, and applies to the Firefly GoTo seat and Firefly Splashy bath seat.

These two seats attach to Leckey’s height-adjustable Floorsitters via two latches which click into position. One latch is located on the Floorsitter base, whilst the second latch is located on the recline arm of the Floorsitter.
Leckey has received numerous reports about broken latches on the Floorsitter, which could cause the back of the seat of the Splashy or GoTo to collapse rapidly.
Although Leckey says that all reported breakages have been followed up and there have been no reported injuries, the company says that such a breakage has the potential to cause a serious injury. With this in mind, Leckey has decided to perform a Field Safety Corrective Action to keep users safe and prevent any injuries from occurring.
The company is now rolling out a solution to eliminate the risk of user injury, which involves replacing both latches on the Floorsitter with an improved and more robust design.
Leckey says that these new latches have been tested and will be sent to all affected clients alongside simple retro-fit instructions during October 2019.
