Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS) provider Appello, which provides smart living solutions, telecare monitoring options and integrated healthcare, has issued a response to how it is dealing with the Coronavirus outbreak.

As of 9am on the 19th of March 2020, there were 3,269 confirmed positive cases of Coronavirus in the UK. As of 1pm, 144 patients in the UK who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.

The global pandemic has seen plenty of disruption to everyday life, from events like Naidex and Med-Tech Innovation Expo being postponed up and down the country, schools closing, over-70s and vulnerable people being advised to self-isolate for up to four months, and people being asked to practice social distancing.

With the UK Government raising the risk level of Coronavirus to “high”, organisations across the UK are introducing new measures to help reduce the possibility of Coronavirus spreading and to keep communities as safe and healthy as possible.

TECS provider Appello says it has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation and is working in accordance with DHSC and Public Health England (PHE) guidance for UK businesses.

Its statement reads: “As a member of the TECS regulatory body, the Telecare Service Association (TSA) we have completed the Quality Standards Framework (QSF) which requires monitoring centres and telecare suppliers to have a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) in place.

“In addition, we have developed our own plans for Pandemic Business Continuity (PBC), which encompasses this COVID-19 outbreak. These plans are being regularly reviewed.”

Appello also confirmed it is constantly evaluating the situation and considering any potential impact on effects to service delivery. It says it strives to provide its customers with the best possible service during the challenging situation and has set up a working group to monitor developments and advise the business accordingly.

“As a responsible employer we are also issuing regular updates and guidance to all employees who are being encouraged to maintain good hand, respiratory and personal hygiene,” Appello adds.

The company also assures it will provide updates as the Coronavirus landscape evolves.

Appello helps housing, health and social care organisations to deliver better outcomes that improve the lives of their customers, patients and residents.
